About Us

KETUT SUNAKA SILVERSMITH

Sunaka Jewelry is a Balinese silver craft shop located in Celuk Village, Bali Island, Indonesia. The business started in 1979 under the name Ketut Sunaka Silversmith, founded by Mr. I Ketut Sunaka himself, along with Mrs. Ni Wayan Sri Sulastri. The business began in a small room converted into a shop to display jewelry created by Mr. I Ketut Sunaka, who was also the silversmith. Over time, orders from various countries continued to pour in, and by the end of 1990, Ketut Sunaka Silversmith employed over 50 silversmiths in Celuk village.

In 2009, the business and trademark of Ketut Sunaka Silversmith were inherited by Mr. I Ketut Sunaka's son, Mr. Kadek Ganda Ismawan, who now manages the business with his wife. Facing intense global competition in the silver and gold craft industry, Sunaka Jewelry continues to innovate and grow to preserve this ancestral heritage.

SUNAKA JEWELRY

In 2014, the brand was rebranded as Sunaka Jewelry, a Balinese silver craft business with the tagline “Fine Contemporary Bali Jewelry.” This motto reflects Sunaka Jewelry's vision to produce only high-quality, refined, beautiful, detailed, and comfortable-to-wear jewelry. The designs are also “contemporary,” aligning with the latest fashion trends while still showcasing Balinese characteristics.

PRESERVING

Sunaka Jewelry is located in Celuk Village, Bali, which is renowned for its silver and gold crafts. Historically, silver and gold jewelry was used in religious ceremonies and by royal families. As an ancestral heritage passed down through generations, we will continue to create elegant and high-quality silver and gold crafts as our dedication to preserving this art and passing it on to future generations.

CULTURAL HERITAGE

SOURCE OF PRODUCT INSPIRATION

Since early 2014, Sunaka Jewelry has launched several collections with strong connections to Bali and Indonesia. In designing these collections, the greatest source of inspiration comes from the community and is also dedicated back to the community, especially in Bali and Indonesia. These collections include: Padma Acala, Kembang Harum, Langit Katulistiwa, Tamiang, Getokan, and Tridatu, as well as our latest collections, Ombak Segara and Batik Indonesia. Each of these Balinese silver craft collections consists of earrings, subeng (traditional Balinese earrings), pendants, brooches, rings, bracelets, and cucuk (hairpins).

All products produced by Sunaka Jewelry undergo a manufacturing process using modern techniques and technology to create products of the highest quality, featuring ethnic, modern, and contemporary designs, including precious jewelry made from stones, silver, copper, gold, and brass.

LATEST COLLECTION

Our latest collection is the Ombak Segara collection, inspired by the rolling waves of Kuta Beach, Bali. This collection is made using the traditional "Bun Jawan" technique (a jewelry-making technique using wire resembling climbing plant tendrils, or "Bun" in Balinese, while "jawan" refers to small silver balls arranged to form specific motifs), which is characteristic of silver craftsmanship in Celuk Village, Bali.

In addition to the Ombak Segara collection, the Batik Indonesia collection is also our newest. This collection is inspired by batik motifs in Indonesia, particularly the Kawung batik motif and the Parang batik motif, representing the diversity of batik motifs throughout Indonesia. Both motifs are applied to an elegant jewelry collection, using the "Bun Jawan" technique and the "gergajian" (sawing) technique (a jewelry-making technique where a pattern or motif drawn on a metal plate or sheet is cut with a special saw). Both techniques require patience and care in their execution to produce beautiful, elegant, refined, high-quality, comfortable-to-wear jewelry that enhances the wearer's identity.
